座狼之年（Year of the Varg） 是多人版饑荒中的活動，活動的時間為 2018 年 2 月 9 日到 2018 年 3 月 16 日。活動的靈感來自中國生肖中的狗年，於 2018 年 2 月 16 日開始至 2019 年 2 月 4 日結束。生肖中，每一年都有一種代表的動物，以十二年為周期的規律輪替。

它與前一年的火雞之年活動相似，並擁有相同的機制，如：提供品的合成類與可以合成活動建築以啟用活動內容等。不過，座狼之年依然有一些與火雞之年截然不同的差異，特別是關於獲得金元寶的方式。

玩家只要在座狼之年的活動期間開啟遊戲就能獲得系統免費贈送的針織小狗毛帽造型。

玩家可以藉由將創建世界選單中的「活動」選項設定至座狼之年來重複遊玩。但活動限定的主題造型無法在重複遊玩時使用。

座狼聖像（Varg Shrine）是個位於建築類中的可合成建築，需要 8 個金塊和 2 個木板才能合成。它隨時隨地都可以合成，且不需要製作樣板。玩家在將火把放入座狼聖像中後便能使用供品類，可以使用金元寶在供品類中換取活動限定物品。當聖像中有火把時，火把的耐久度下降速度會是平時的 0.2 倍，也就是說，一個 100％耐久度的火把通常只能使用 75 秒，放在聖像中時便能使用 375 秒（等同 6.25 分鐘）。座狼聖像在火把的火焰消失後便會失去作用。

陶土座狼（Clay Vargs） 像普通座狼一樣從可疑的土堆生成，前提是有座狼聖像在激活狀態。它們會以被十二隻陶土獵犬包圍的情況下出現，它們會起來如果玩家接近它們並停留在一段時間。陶土座狼有和普通座狼一樣的生命值和戰鬥方式，但會掉落4-6個紅包而不是怪物肉它們還會掉落1-3個狗牙.

和普通座狼不同，陶土座狼是不能召喚陶土獵犬或一般獵犬。它們也不點燃或睡著。

陶土獵犬（Clay Hounds） spawn from Suspicious Dirt Piles in two groups of six next to the Clay Varg. They share the same health and fighting stats with regular Hounds, except for being a little slower. Upon being killed, they have a 20% chance to drop a Red Pouch and a 10% chance to drop a Hound's Tooth.

Clay Hounds cannot be set on fire or put to sleep.

3 個鞭炮（Firecrackers）可以在座狼聖像中由 1 個金元寶換得。它們可以使用火把或打火機點燃以產生火花，且在過程中會被破壞。點燃後，附近的生物，如獵犬，會受到驚嚇並感到畏懼，讓鞭炮除了在慶祝活動中也能有其它用途。

幸運口哨（Lucky Whistles）可以在座狼聖像中由 3 個金元寶換得。吹響幸運口哨時附近的獵犬將能被玩家馴服（包含陶土獵犬），持續時間為 40 秒。被馴服的獵犬會追隨玩家，且不會攻擊玩家。不過，牠們仍會攻擊其他生物。玩家一次最多只能馴服 5 個獵犬。幸運口哨可以使用 10 次。

年獸（Lucky Beast）的三種裝扮都是帽子，且每個都可以在座狼聖像中由 8 個金元寶換得。

戴上時，「/dance」的表情會被不同的舞蹈動畫取代。如果玩家在戴上年獸帽的同時跳舞，角色能夠獲得與蘇格蘭帽同等的理智值加乘（＋6.7 點／分）。如果有其他玩家也在附近戴著年獸帽跳舞，這個加乘會提升。這個加乘最高能堆疊到 3 倍（＋20 ／分），也就是三個玩家戴著年獸帽跳舞。^{[Verification Needed]}

年獸帽的耐久度只有在角色戴著跳舞時才會減少。持續時間為 1 天，且使用針線包能修復它 100％的耐久度。

座狼雕塑（Varg Figures） and 獵犬雕塑（Hound Figures）可以在座狼聖像中取得相對應的雕塑設計圖後放置於雕塑輪盤上，於雕塑類中合成。玩家需要先放置 1 個大理石或 1 個石磚在雕塑輪盤上才能進行開始雕塑，而雕塑品的顏色會根據玩家放置在雕塑輪盤上的材料而不同，若放置的是大理石，雕塑品則是白色的，反之，若放置的是石磚，雕塑品則會是黑色的。座狼雕塑還需要 2 個圓石和 1 個狗牙才能合成，而獵犬雕塑只需要再 2 個圓石和 1 個狗牙就能合成。

於西洋棋雕塑相似，座狼和獵犬雕塑可以藉由背在角色的背上來進行移動，且可以做為裝飾使用。

這個活動原本會在 2018 年 3 月 1 日時結束。不過，活動在當天便宣布延期到 3 月 16 日才結束。
活動期間時，遊戲主頁面的音樂有與中國樂器做些微的改變與混合。
獵犬雕塑製作時的描述("It ain't nothing but a clay hound dog.")是來自Elvis Presley的Hound Dog。
兩個在座狼之年的造型(the Purebred and Pedigree Varglings)和中國的兩隻狗相似(分別是鬆獅犬和西施犬)。
根據Rhymes with Play #179,新陶土獵犬和座狼出現在活動是以土為主題的原因是Kris發現農曆新年在2018中和五行中的土的有關。
