Watermelon is a Fruit Food item from the Reign of Giants DLC. It can be harvested from a Farm with an 11% percent chance of being grown from Seeds. It can be used as an ingredient in several Crock Pot recipes, particularly Melonsicles. Feeding a Watermelon to a Bird in a Birdcage will produce 1–2 Watermelon Seeds (Square Seeds). In Don't Starve Together, you will always get 1 Watermelon Seed. When eaten, it will also decrease the perceived temperature by 40 degrees for 5 seconds.
It may also be combined with Twigs to make a Fashion Melon, which will provide protection for the player against Overheating.

Grilled Watermelon is a Fruit Food item made by Cooking a Watermelon on a Campfire, Fire Pit, or Star. It restores slightly more Sanity than its raw version but heals slightly less. It can still be used as an ingredient in several Crock Pot recipes, but cannot be used to make Melonsicles or craft the Fashion Melon.
Downloadable Content[]
Watermelons are also included in the Shipwrecked DLC, where they can be acquired through farming. It is possible to craft Fashion Melons or cook Melonsicles.
The Hamlet DLC includes Watermelons as well. They can be bought for an Oinc at the Swinesbury Fine Grocer's.
Don't Starve Together[]
As of the She Sells Sea Shells update for Don't Starve Together, Willow's examination quote for watermelon and grilled watermelon were changed to avoid confusion with the new character. Her quote for watermelon was changed from "I once knew a melon named Walter. He was a jerk." to "But where's the firemelon?" , and her quote for grilled watermelon was changed from "Warm, sweet, juicy Walter." to "I made my own firemelon."
These quotes were changed to avoid confusion over the new character, Walter, though the old quotes are still present in Singleplayer. Joe W further confirmed that Willow did not know Walter on the Klei forums.
