The Void Cowl is a head gear exclusive to Don't Starve Together, introduced within the From Beyond. It can be crafted at the Shadowcraft Plinth with 4 Pure Horror and 2 Dark Tatters.

It has 830 health points of durability and absorbs 80% damage, and has an additional 10 Planar Defense.

This gear can be used to buff Shadow Reaper's damage when equipped. Normal damage is increased by 10% and planar damage is increased by 9 plus 4 per enemy hit recently, up to 29 additonal planar damage after 5 hits. The bonus disappears if the Character removes the hood, gets hit, or does not attack for 3 seconds. It can buff Maxwell's Shadow Duelists' damage output, as it is a tier 3 equipment.

When the Void Cowl durability is exhausted, it will not break, but instead can no longer be equipped until repaired. Using a Void Repair Kit will restore the durability to 100%.

Trivia

• The Void Cowl was introduced in the Terrors Below update.
• In the Terrors Below's beta release, the Void Cowl's eyes were supposed to change appearance based on what character you were using. However, due to technical difficulties with implementing this mechanic and poor skin compatibility, the Void Cowl now only displays two flaming eyes.
  • There is a steam mod that adds this behavior back in called "Old Void Cowls"
