Introduction[]

Hello, I am Orion76, and I have come up with a character: Wally. (The name "Wally" chosen by Roud72)

Horn of Sight[]

When you start a world as Wally, Everything is a black void, except for your character. You will also start out with the Horn of Sight. It is similiar to a Beefalo Horn, except it doesn't lose durability or make Beefalo follow you. Instead, it summons a circle that lets you see your surroundings.

Memories and Circles of Visibility[]

The circles that let you see your surroundings (called Circles of Visibility) will eventually fade away, until all that's left is a very faint image of what was seen in the Circle of Visibility. This is called a Level 1 Memory. If you use the Horn of sight on a Level 1 Memory, and let the Circle fade away again, it will leave a Level 2 Memory. You can use the Horn again on a Level 2 Memory to get a Level 3 Memory, etc. The highest level of a memory you can get is a Level 5 Memory. Memories are the only thing to appear on the map (besides map icons, like Fire Pits, Berry Bushes, Science Machines, etc. but those will only appear if they are inside a memory. Memories on the map will be transparent, the amount of transparency depending on the level. Every 8 days, all memories will go down 1 Level.

Capturing Motion in Circles of Visibility? Nah.[]

If there were any moving objects or mobs, the movement will not be captured in the circle. Instead, the moving thing would be shown stuck where it was when you blew the horn. This does not stop the actual object/mob's movement, however. Most moving objects/mobs are shown as silhouettes. They are barely visible in areas where there is no memory/circle of visibility, because of the black void, and are easier to spot in memories/circles of visibility.

Purple Smoke[]

Not all mobs/moving objects are represented by silhouettes. These other things are represented by purple smoke. They are:

  • Nightmare Fuel: It appears to be a small cloud of purple smoke (while dropped on the ground, it looks normal in the inventory)
  • Hallucinations: Hallucinations appear to be clouds of purple smoke in the shape of the Hallucination.
  • Complete Darkness: Complete Darkness (night, darkness in a cave, etc.) Is represented by purple-colored fog, similar to graveyard fog, covering the dark area.
  • The Grue: When the Grue is about to attack, a cloud of purple smoke will conceal the character, and it will disappear after the Grue attacks.
  • Maxwell: (when he appears at the start of the game, adventure mode,  and at the end of the game) Maxwell apears as a purple skeleton, accompanied with... purple smoke.
  • Night hands and Shadow Watcher: Not entirely purple smoke, this time. Yay. The Night Hands and Shadow Watcher look like they normally would, except purple.

Basically, anything evil is represented by Purple smoke. These are always visible.

Oh no, not MORE PURPLE SMOKE! And it Wants to Kill Blind People too? Ok.[]

If you go too far away from a circle of visibility or a Memory, there is a chance that the Purple Smoke Serpent of Death (not official name, of course, I'll just abbreviate it as PSSOD, lol) might spawn. When it is about to spawn for the first time, your character will say something like the following: "I sense that it will come soon. I'd better get to an area I recognize." If the character does not get to a recognized area, (which is either a circle of visibility or a level 2 or higher memory) the PSSOD will appear.

It spawns off screen, and will make its way towards the player by burrowing in and out of the ground. Having it nearby will drain 25 sanity per minute. You cannot attack the PSSOD. It appears as, well, a serpent made of purple smoke. It has two attacks. The first is a charged attack. When doing a charged attack, it moves in circles around the player while hovering slightly above the ground. The longer it does this, the more powerful the attack. After a while, it will strike at the player, doing about 15 damage for a short amount of charging, and 35 for a long amount of charging. The second attack is a knockback attack. The PSSOD will fly away from you, then charge at you. This does 10 damage, but will knock the player back. The PSSOD will try to knock the player away from any memories and/or Circles of Visibility. Armor does not absorb any of this damage. If you use the Horn of Sight during the battle, the PSSOD will make a roaring sound that will drown out the sound of the horn, making it leave no Circle of Visibility. If you make it to a recognized area, the PSSOD will make an attempt to go inside the memory/circle of visibility, but it is trapped outside. It will then burrow into the ground and despawn.

Luckily for you, the PSSOD only moves at path speed, (the speed of a character without a walking stick on a path) meaning you have a chance to escape it.

Meaning of Stuff[]

Circle of Visibility: The circle that allows you to see your surroundings that is summoned using the Horn of Sight.

Memory: What is left behind after a circle of Visibility Disappears. It looks like what was seen in the circle of visibility, but is less visible. It starts out as a Level 1 memory. If you use the Horn of Sight in the same place and the Circle of Visibility disappears again, it will be a level 2 memory. You can keep doing this until you reach a Level 4 Memory. The higher the level, the more visible the memory.

Horn of Sight: Similar to a Beefalo Horn, only instead of making Beefalo follow you, it summons a circle of visibility. It takes 2 minutes before you can use it again.

Purple Smoke: Maxwell, complete darkness, Hallucinations, the Grue, PSSOD. It is used a lot in this post.

PSSOD: Purple Smoke Serpent of Death (unofficial name)

In this photo, the character has made multiple memories so that they cover the screen. The green circle is just light made by the campfire (the fog is complete darkness.) You can see green under fog.

I used Wilson because I do not yet have an Idea for what Wally will look like yet. And because I don't even have a character model for him, and Wilson was the only male character I had.

lol

Why Purple Smoke for Stuff of Pure Evil, and How does the Horn of Sight Work?[]

The character can sense evil more easily than other mobs. The Horn of Sight works by blowing into the Horn, then feeling vibrations which tell you where things are. As you can probably see, this ability of the character is inspired by Toph from The Last Airbender :)
