I've recently been studying the Seven Deadly Sins, and I've come to see that the characters in Don't Starve (execpting Wickerbottem and Wes) each express the deadly sins. Remember: I'm 99.9% sure Klei didn't think of this while making the game. I'll do them in character order. My theory is that the world of Don't Starve is a hell in which each player is suffering because of their sins.
Wilson-Greed
If you look in the Forbidden Knowledge trailer, Wilson doesn't even think about the consequences of his actions, he is just greedy for his knowledge.
Willow-Lust
I know what you're thinking, but Lust isn't just indulgence in sexual desires, it can be other pleasures, too. We all know Willow indulges in fire WAY to much.
Wendy-Sloth
Yes, I know Sloth is laziness, but a lot of people used to call this sin 'Sadness', which Wendy obviously is. Sadness can lead to Sloth easily, that's all.
Wolfgang-Pride
It's not hard to see this one. It's even in Wolfgang's quote "I am mighty! No on is mightier!" Wolfgang just REALLY thinks of himself as better than everything else.
WX-78-Envy
Yes, I know. for a robot who hates natural life, thinking machines are better, would hardly envy humans, but the true meaning of Envy is hating someone else's blessings. He really hates the blessing of living matter.
Woodie-Gluttony
Woodie himself doesn't really eat too much, but when he is in were-beaver form, he has to eat a lot. Plus, that food is not really for survival, Woodie can go anlong fine not turning, or letting the log meter go down when on full moon.
Maxwell-Wrath
Maxwell posses tons of anger by being on the throne so long. He chooses to take that anger out on the characters even though they didn't do anything to him in the first place.
