Twigs are one of the first items acquired at the start of a new game and is needed to craft primarily tools and other items.
Twigs are one of the most needed items in the game and should be sought after as soon as a new game starts. It is recommended to always have at least 2 twigs on your person at all times.
Collecting

Twigs can be collected from Saplings or Spiky Bushes found planted in the ground. Each Sapling will drop 1 Twigs and then become wasted and won't be harvestable until it regrows. Saplings and Spiky Bushes will regrow in 4 days after collecting. Twigs can also be obtained by chopping down Spiky Trees using an Axe (or a Luxury axe), which drop 1 Twig per tree.

Twigs can be removed from the ground using a Shovel or a Regal Shovel yielding 1 Sapling or 1 Spiky Bush, that can be replanted by placing it on the ground, and when planted, will start as wasted, taking 4 days in game to become refreshed.
