I've been trying to decide between them, and I'm not sure which is better, assuming I don't connect them.

There isn't really a clear answer, but my personal favorite is Shipwrecked. There's something about being stranded in a tropical paradise that just makes surviving a little more fun as opposed to a dark, bleak, world. In terms of gameplay, RoG is definitely more complicated, with more mobs, biomes and enemies. Shipwrecked is easier to understand, and probably easier to survive in as well due to all the OP items such as elephant cactus, obsidian fire pit, and the almighty coffee. Shipwrecked's characters also aren't really anything special. Walani is good early game but bad late game, Warly is annoying, and Wilbur is alright but a pain to unlock. The only exception is woodlegs, who is just outright broken, he's so overpowered. Wigfrid and Webber are more interesting, but have totally different playstyles to any other characters, basically requiring you to learn the game all over again. In the end, it just comes down to what you prefer. There is no clear "better" dlc, but if you really want the most out of DS, get both. They're only $5 each, which is very cheap considering how much content is packed into them. Alright, I'm done writing an essay now.
