Swordfish are hostile Mobs found in the Shipwrecked DLC. They spawn in the deep Ocean from an invisible spawner. Once the location of the spawner is found, it can be marked by Items that have map markers, like any one of the Backpacks or Boats as well as a Buoy. It spawns in the same spot every 60–120 seconds, as long as the spawner is nearby. Swordfish can be used to craft Cutlass Supreme or can be cooked on a campfire to have Fish Steak.

When a killed Swordfish is left to spoil, it will turn in to a Spoiled Fish.

Despite being hostile, they are considered innocent creatures and killing one adds 4 points to the Player's naughtiness level, which can cause Krampus to appear.

When a Swordfish is killed it becomes a Dead Swordfish. It can be eaten to restore 1 File:Health.png and 25 File:Hunger.png. If cooked at a Campfire, Fire Pit, Chiminea, or Dwarf Star it will produce Fish Steak . Dead Swordfish can also be used to craft the Cutlass Supreme.

Fighting Strategy

Swordfish cannot be stun locked, however it is possible to kite Swordfish using fast boat. A Cargo Boat with a Snakeskin Sail is fast enough, a Row Boat or an Armoured Boat with any Sail is faster. Sailing close to the Swordfish will cause it to attack, which can be dodged by sailing in the opposite direction after the Swordfish pauses before the attack. Then players will be able to land 1 or 2 hits with a melee weapon depending on their overall boat speed. After which the player still has enough time to dodge the next attack.

Below is the number of hits it takes with each weapon to kill a Swordfish when playing with characters with a default damage modifier. The Weather Pain is not included due to the random nature of its projectile.
