Splumonkeys are neutral mobs in-game. They reside in Caves, and attempt to steal items. Occasionally, they will knock an item out of a player's inventory and steal it. The items can be re-obtained upon death of the Splumonkey; similar to Krampus and Lureplants. Its only defense method is to run a distance from the player and throw Manure.

Splumonkeys pick Bananas from Cave Banana Treesberries from berry bushes, and mushrooms on sight. Splumonkeys will harvest any harvestable crops from farms. Splumonkeys will also steal items from chests.

Splumonkeys drop whatever they stole and a Morsel upon death. Spulmonkeys spawn from Barrels located in Caves. On the death of a splumonkey, or the start of a quake, splumonkeys will return to their barrels.

Also they steal the lantern if the player drop in on.

Appearance

Splumonkeys are monkey-like in their appearance and movement, crawling on all fours, much like an ape does in real life. They have red eyes, a unibrow, a tuft of hair on top of their head, and large ears. They have a small body with long, gangly limbs, and large hands and feet.

Behaviour

Splumonkeys tend to hide amongst the shadows, where they can use their ranged attacks against the player. They will run on-screen to steal items from around the player and the player's inventory. They will run off-screen, then return to pick up the item, which is now on the ground. Splumonkeys will take Cave Banana  as a priority, except when fleeing the player.

Splumonkeys may decide to follow the player for a while. If the player has any bananas in their inventory, the Splumonkey's chance to follow is increased. Unlike other followers, Splumonkeys never follow to help, only to annoy (by stealing items).

Trivia

  • Spawning from a Barrel may be a reference to the toy, 'Barrel of Monkeys'
  • The name splumonkey is a reference to Spelunking: the exploration of caves and underground.
  • They are most likely a reference to the term "Underground Monkey", which refers to the practice of video game role-playing games tending to reuse mob sprites in different areas, placing animals in strange biomes - with the common example being a subterranian monkey enemy.
  • Most propably the name "splumonkey" can be a refference to the video game called "Spelunky" by Derek Yu , in which monkeys acts very similiar to the splumonkeys (steal things etc.).
