Smallbird is a mob that is a child version of Tallbirds. One can be obtained by hatching a Tallbird Egg, which is a delicate process (see Hatching Tallbird Egg for more details). A Smallbird will further grow into Smallish Tallbird in 10 full days.  They are considered innocent creatures and killing one adds 6 points to the player's naughtiness level, which can cause Krampus to appear. 

Smallbirds are fragile and will die with a single strike. If Ctrl is pressed as well as hovering the mouse above a Smallbird, the player can attack it. They will trigger and die from Bee Mines and Tooth Traps.

Smallbirds require 20 calories per day and will demand food by chirping when hungry ( < 50%), and when starving ( = 0) will die in 4 game hours. They can be fed Berries (raw only) and Seeds (raw, toasted and Crop Seeds) and they will also eat seeds off the ground if they are Hungry. Eating anything heals them to full health.

Behavior

Smallbirds will follow the player around, regardless of nearby danger. It is possible to pen a smallbird to prevent it from following the player, but it will not eat until the player is nearby. Smallbirds fall asleep at Since a Smallbird hops as movement, it can jump over 1 level high walls.

When playing Wendy, player should be aware that Abigail would kill those Smallbirds if touched.

When playing Willow, please be careful as Smallbird can be hurt and die when burnt.

Smallbirds will gradually grow up and become Tallbirds. It takes 11 days for Small birds growing into Smallish Birds and another 11 days for Smallish Birds growing into TallBirds. If then, they would become hostile towards the player and attack immediately. Please be careful.

Bugs

• If a Smallbird steps on a chest with a tooth trap in it, there is a chance it will die from the toothtrap even though it is in the Chest.^{[Verification Needed]}
• If you attack animal with a Boomerang and don't catch it on its return the Boomerang will damage you causing the Smallbird to attack.^{[Verification Needed]}
