Rocks are a resource which can be found in limited amounts on the surface, but are unlimited in Caves or in shallow Ocean in Shipwrecked.

Rocks are generally obtained by mining Boulders with a Pickaxe, but they can sometimes be found lying on the ground. They can also be obtained by deconstructing some structures, such as a Fire Pit or Rundown House, with a Hammer or Deconstruction Staff. In Don't Starve: Reign of Giants, Mini Glaciers always drop one (1) Rock.

Underground, Rocks can be mined from Stalagmites or dropped from Rock Lobsters. They also fall from the ceiling during Earthquakes. Additionally, they can drop from Relics after smashing them. Slurtles and Snurtles will attempt to eat Rocks, and Slurtles will attack a player holding Rocks if there are no minerals on the ground for them to eat.

Moleworm burrows can be used to renew rocks easily, along with other minerals (excluding marble and gems). When dug up using a shovel, the burrow drops one the four basic minerals (rocks, flint, nitre, gold), and the moleworm residing there goes off to make a new one. This farming method can be expanded by taking a mole from a burrow, holding it, relogging, and dropping it. The burrow it used to live in will be occupied by a new resident moleworm, rendering the one in your inventory homeless (the moleworm's home is taken and it has nowhere to live, to simplify). When dropped, it will go off to make a new burrow. This can be repeated (preferably on a peninsula) in order to farm rocks without the danger present in the caves.

In Don't Starve Together, lavae spawned by the dragonfly can be frozen and killed, resulting in a couple of rocks. This is a risky but fast way to renew rocks.
