Curvy roads

Insanity update introduced natural and curvy roads.

He's too fast!

Wilson

Roads can be found throughout the world, but they are rare. Walking on Roads allows the player and most in-game mobs to move 50% faster. Roads tend to connect all the parts of the world and all Bridges have roads to them, leading across the gaps between lands.

As of the Insanity update, roads look more natural and are a lot more curvy. You can craft Cobblestones, a Turf item that when placed on an empty land space acts like roads. These can be dug up and re-placed using the Pitchfork.

Roads appear grey on the map, while trails are black. However, roads also appear less frequently than trails. Roads may lead players to Things, Pig Villages or Ponds.

Trivia

  • During the winter roads are often covered by snow, and can be very hard to see. The player can easily find where the road is by throwing items on it during the summer. Nearly-broken tools, weapons and armor are good choices for marking roads.
