Is it staring at me? ...No, I guess not.

No-Eyed Deer are neutral, seasonal Mobs exclusive to Don't Starve Together and introduced in A New Reign. They are often found in groups of 7 to 9.

No-Eyed Deer spawn near the beginning of Autumn in Deciduous Forests or Mosaic Biomes.

Past the beginning of Winter they will grow one of the 3 variations of antlers. They will, however, despawn around the end of the season, unless they are near a player base.

Brain Behavior

No-Eyed Deer will spawn within 3 to 5 days into Autumn. They will not spawn on craftable Turfs, Savanna Turf, or Marsh Turf. They will always spawn as a group, and away from all players. As winter starts, the No-Eyed Deer will start migrating. This will make it possible for them to start growing their antlers. After about 1 full day, the antler will grow out. If the No-Eyed Deer collides into a tree, the antler will break off.

Within 2 days before or after the end of Winter, No-Eyed Deer will despawn, unless they are within 1.5 screens (7.5 Pitchfork tiles) of at least 10 player Structures or Walls.

No-Eyed Deer will run away from the player if they approach, and will attack back should a player successfully hit one. If the player is able to get far enough from the Deer, it will give up on the chase.

No-Eyed Deer will help each other in combat in the same way Beefalo help each other when attacked.

Placeholder Trivia

  • "No-Eyed Deer" is a pun on the phrase "doe-eyed", which is commonly used to describe eyes of deer. The name also resembles the phrase "no idea".
  • Klaus spawns 2 collared No-Eyed Deer with Gems on their heads when summoned. These types of No-Eyed Deer are aggressive and can perform magical attacks with glowing gems from their foreheads when approached. The attacks affect the land around the player, and the player has a short time to move away from the affected land before being affected themselves.
    • The Red Gem type melts the land, which sets lingering players on fire.
    • The Blue Gem type freezes the land, which freezes lingering players.
  • Before the 'Winter Feast' update The No-Eyed Deer used Volt Goat's sounds.
  • The functional versions of the collared No-Eyed Deers were first shown on Rhymes with Play #116[1].
