Top Hat Stl1234 is busy in real life and may not respond swiftly to queries.

I'm currently busy with work. If you need something quick, your best bet is to ask others (try active people in Don't Starve Wiki:Administrators, Don't Starve Wiki:Custodians, or Don't Starve Wiki:Rollbacks). I'll be checking for messages once every few days.

  • Gears This is an automated message.

Welcome to Don't Starve game Wiki!

Hello , thanks for your edit to the Template:Craftable Items page. We hope you will continue contributing constructively!

Wait, I forgot to tell you...

    • Always make sure your additions are factual, not subjective, and don't contain instructional language or speculation. If in doubt, just ask!
    • Keep strategy and tip sections to the minimum and help us rewrite excessively long ones. We have a Guides page for comprehensive instructions instead.
    • Don't upload images randomly. If you want to improve the current version, please upload a new version of the image, instead of uploading another image with different name.
    • Don't use second person pronouns ("you", "your", etc.), instead use third person ("the player", singular "they", etc.) and help us write neutral articles without them.
    • Read the Rules and Manual of Style

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything. Thanks! Anemicne (talk) 08:25, January 8, 2016 (UTC)

  • I don't know if you were planning on working on the Recipe template again, but if you are, I put up a smaller version of the Obsidian Workbench that I think would work for the Recipe. (Full size here.) It's simpler than the full one, so should scale down better (I hope). They did the same thing w/the Pseudoscience Stations - a much simpler version for icons and stuff.

  • I feel blind, but I can't find the new Warly recipes in the scripts. They don't seem to be in the preparedfoods.lua or the portablecrockpot.lua files. Where did you find the info? I was hoping to update the Crock Pot recipes various places, but I can't find their priority.

    Thanks!!

    • They are in the Warly's prefab. They all have 30 priority. The info I added is from the scripts, I may be misinterpreting stuff (e.g. I'm not sure if cooked versions of specific items work or not)

    • Wow, I really was blind! Didn't even think to check the character prefab. I'll check over the recipes & test them out in game. Thanks!

  • You are doing a lot, but you don't have a position yet. Would you like to be a Custodian and/or Rollback? These positions should give you even more capability of keeping pages neat.

    Thanks for all your work!

  • Would you like me to screenshot each and every one for you? She says the same thing for multiple food items. Yes, I alt-clicked them. Yes, I double-checked each and every one. I did a lot of work to get the materials for and craft each of those items just so I could contribute to this page. :(

    • "It's a... thing" is a generic quote which the game uses when the correct quote isn't found. It isn't an actual quote. Entering that to the pages makes it harder to find missing quotes, because these don't look like they are missing.

        Loading editor
    • Ahhh, okay. Thanks so much for explaining! Hopefully they'll get in the rest of the quotes in an update. :)

  • do you think i should put the my edit(the comparison to darksword) on the cutlass tips? i realized that you've been cleaning my statement since it's riddled with personal opinion. still new to this but i wanted to know how to properly contribute

    • For starters you should read the manual of style. All the relevant links are sent automatically in a message when you sign up.

The general principle when adding that information is to have it factual, useful and relevant. The general Wiki content is about the information, not guidance (there is a separate section in the wiki that contains guides). Unless it is an indisputable fact, it is an opinion. For example, it can be argued that dark sword is still better than cutlass, because it doesn't require gold, which is arguably rarer in SW, or because it requires killing swordfish, but dark sword can be obtained without killing anything. Another problem with that edit was the location of content. The main body of the article should not contain any dlc info for clarity (these are all mentioned in the manual of style). Comparisons also do not belong in there.

A better way to add that information to the article would have been to add a tip, which simply states, in SW, there is another melee weapon with the same damage, with higher durability and no sanity drain.

      I hope this helps.

Hi wondering if you can add in the Trivia section in the above article that Wilbur is a reference to Sun Wukong from The Journey To The West? UK people might have heard of him from 1980s show 'monkey magic'. the crown is a different design, but the red costume is a dead giveaway. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Wukong

I can't edit cause the article is locked

    • I don't see anything that suggests that. What makes you think so?

        Loading editor
    • Because of the naming, the crown and the red costume. http://www.aaronshep.com/books/MonkeyKing_art.jpg the modern take of sun wukong is a powerful entity who calls himself "the monkey king" and is depicted with a golden crown, and in a red getup.

I think it is just an allusion to a character whom they took inspiration. not much more than that

        Loading editor
    • I don't see is any evidence that actually supports this proposal. Monkey king is too generic of a name, could be any of the monkey kings in the history or literature, or could be none of them. There is no consistent depiction of Sun Wukong. Most representation do not have a crown, and they do not wear red clothing. Even in the image you have linked, which from what I've seen is the closest to Wilbur, while the clothing is red and while technically there is a crown, they look nothing like what Wilbur wears. There is no literature I could find that suggests behaviors or known history of these two resemble each other in any way.

Any king or any monkey would as relevant as this one, because same number of similarities can be derived by ignoring the differences.

  • Heya :) Since you've been editing a lot around here lately, I wanted to make sure that you knew about upcoming changes to Don't Starve's infoboxes. I've opened a discussion in the forums and would love to hear your opinions there. Please feel free to stop by!

  • Sorry about that. I didn't search the other tool sections and most of the articles I looked for reference had the Usage section dedicated to recipes.
