  • Hi, when you were looking to auto-generate categories from infoboxes did you by any chance learn how to turn OFF auto-catigorization? The Items category seems to be including almost everything on the wiki by itself. Most of the offending pages to do not include this category themselves, but are in there never-the-less. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

    • LOL - well, since I am even still learning I'm finding that there are lots of "wrong strings" to be pulled!

However - SUCCESS! I fixed the mob infobox by creating a new on-site template to handle the parsing of categorization.  Basically it will look to be sure the infobox is in an article before it will apply its category - if its in the user, talk, forum, etc namespaces, it won't count towards a category.

Gonna go fix the other infoboxes now before I forget!

Ok I have another one for you. This user added a mob infobox to his profile and is therefore being included in the category. Any way to exclude him but let him keep the infobox? I thought maybe a Magic Word but I didn't find one.

      Oops...

  • Hi Kraziepop, I'm just letting you know that I'm taking you off the admin list for the time being since you haven't editted for 2 months. If you want to come back I'll be happy to reinstate you. Thanks for all the work you did while you were with us. I hope your health is ok; the last I heard from you it wasn't so great. Good luck in whatever the future holds for you!

    • So i just tryed to do it without the parenthesis and it works. Same with spaces. I guess it might have been in the new update because in the previous update it didn't work. I use Windows 7 and Norwegian Keyboard. Meaning i have to press "Ø" to open the console.

    • From what I understand the console works differently for different people in different situations. This may have something to do with updates, but also definately has to do with different languages/keyboards. During my time here we've had many users with console problems, and various solutions (and in one case we couldn't get it to work). Another part of the problem is that Klei doesn't tell you exactly what everything does/doesn't do/is supposed to do, or tell you when then change something.

  • Hi, I haven't seen you around lately, which I assume is because of your surgery, I hope you are recovering and the pain you mentioned hasn't gotten worse. Best wishes buddy! I'm actually sending this because Wikia has announced some changes which will be affecting our admin work in the near future, including some changes to how we edit CSS. The link is here, in case the little reminder pop-up has been removed when you get back online. Get well soon!

  • I finally got around to updating the Slider on the main page. I found a pic of Wilson doing science that I think will work as a long term "Update" slide so I don't have to keep making new ones every time (usually they don't look as nice as this one anyway). I also still have one that used to be up there from Klei's livestreams which we can use if they ever do one again (it has the gramaphone on it). Take a look when you are feeling better and let me know your thoughts on anything else that might go on there.

  • I've thought of another question for you. At the bottom of most pages is a section that says Read More, and has three randomly related articles to the one you're reading. On many of these articles, the image displayed is not the one from the infobox, or even the first image on the page, but a seemingly random one found elsewhere in the article. For other pages no image is given at all; instead the first line of the article is quoted. Do you have any idea how to make the infobox image (at least when available) show up here?

When I was working on the Tribes Wiki I'm sure this never happened, the image down there was always the one in the infobox; in fact I made a point of fixing all the pages so they looked more uniform. Those infoboxes however did not automatically call for an image based on the pagename, which I suspect has somethng to do with this.

    • Nope - as a matter of fact it appears that Mr Ronald28 felt he needed to remove the background image from the Item Infobox... not sure why, but thats why its borked up right now.

    • Actually... he may be one of the users using a browser that is rendering incorrectly. If so, he might believe that the inventory background image isn't supposed to go in there.  I haven't had the time to check on a remedy for this yet, but I feel pretty confident thats what happened.
