Bro if you wanna be able to explore and you really hate these depths worms go into the game files under data > scripts, open the file called tuning.lua and look for WORM_HEALTH = 900 and change it to like, 1 or something. Problem solved ok? 1 hit from anything, even rocks falling from earthquakes, will kill them ok.
Also if you'd like you can change their dmg too. WORM_DAMAGE = 75
if you dont know how to edit .lua files get a program called Notepad++ and you can do it with that. have fun exploring ok
Thanks for the info but I don't want to cheat. I'm past 300 days and I'm sure barely anyone reached that far without cheating, whatever they say, so I want to keep it clean. Cheating would be boring. I pretty much own both surface and the caves. I just need to fully explore ruins, but with those worms, It's so annoying. Besides, it would be so low of me to do that, when I consider myself master of survival. Thanks anyway :)
It isn't cheating it's customization. When you complain about a game feature in the comments section, you are asking the developers to customize the game in your favor. So you believe that if they do it, it's somehow different from you doing it yourself? I'm sorry but that is not logical.
Customization is not cheating. Sorry, let me rephrase that...
In-Game Costumization is not cheating. If they don't allow something to be customized in the game, that is how its supposed to be. How come, even the stuff that's not in adventure mode (like walrus camps) cannot be customized? Beceause some things are just meant to be here. You can't even customize anything in the caves or ruins, like spitters, slurpers, snurtles or anything like that. You can customize the surface world beceause they allow it. Cave/Ruins customization might be considered cheating if they didn't allow it in the first place.
Now, if you don't agree with that, I'm sure you'l understand that changing a mob's health from 900 to 1 is cleary cheating. Before you say that you can, for example, turn hounds off and "cheat" even though it's not cheating, If I wanted to turn off hounds, I would never get any hound's teeth. If I were to turn off spiders, I wouldn't be able to get silk on the surface. If I were to turn off deerclops, there's no way for me to craft houndious shootius.
Point being: If I set worm's hp to 1, I will still get all the loot, but will be able to 1shot them. So if you turn off anything dangerous in the in-game customization, you will never be able to get its drops (unless there's a similar one underground) so that is bad, you get good for bad. If I lower worm's hp to 1, I will still get the loot and be able to literally punch them without a weapon. It's even worse since worms drop glowberries.
So every "customization" comes with a price, if we mess with the ones we can't customize in-game, its basically free.
Just fyi, I haven't lost an argument in a looong time ;)
Just one more thing. Even if I lower their hp from 900 to, maybe 500, that will still make it easier. And how can you even say that you survived for over 300 days with your "customization" (cheating). That means, even if you survive 800 days, the guy with barely 100 days probably has more skill than you do. If I was desperate, I would only customize my world a little bit in-game, but customizing it yourself is cheating, in every possible way.
I didn't change the depths worms for my game at all. I made this suggestion for you, because you were the one saying that they were ruining your underground experience. I've posted many ways of surviving against waves of depths worms in the comments section of that page. I've survived past 500 days with Wilson before I even knew about modding or even about the Steam Mod Workshop. There's really not much left to prove after beating the guardian, attaining all the special armors and such, surviving. After this point, I now use mods that make the game more fun :)
If you feel you need to prove yourself then I recommend you read some suggestions on how to deal with depths worms and then complete the challenge of crafting all the Thulecite level equipment and items, as well as beating the guardian. Then you can do what you want with the depths worms. You can also change their loot by the way if that's what bothers you - and you can make them have no loot at all.
You can also go into the game files to change how many of them spawn after 150 days and all that.
You should play this game to have fun not to feel you need to prove yourself :) But in the end it's your decision.
