  • Hey, I see that you have updated the image with a render. It looks great. However, that breaks a pattern. From what I can see "X.png" for structures are always 64x64 and they use the icons from the crafting menus. For the built structures, a pattern like "X Build.png" (not 'Built', sad, I know) is used.

Your update created a problem with the Recipe template (because it basically assumes everything to be 64x64 size)

I don't want to revert to the old version (I'm not sure if I have permission to do so either), because it does look awful. Any chance you can extract the crafting menu version of the Palm Leaf Hut and update the image?

  • Hi,

Since SW introduces fish food value akin to meat and veggie values I am kinda confused with Surf'n'Turf recipe. I too checked the lua file and it clearly says meat >= 2.5 and fish >=1.5... the things is it is undoable from what I know. The highest value a meat or fish (I assume) can have is 1.If one puts 3 meat pieces (1 + 1 + 0.5) there is no place to put 2 fish foods since there is no fish of value > 1. All in all one would need meat (1 + 1 + 0.5) and fish (1 + 0.5) and thats five food items.

This got me thinking, what if some fish foods have a hybrid value; lets assume for example that Limpet is both 0.5 meat and 0.5 fish. In this case the recipe made of 1 monster meat and 3 limets would be explained as to why it works and should work cos: monster meat (1) and limpets 3 * (0.5 + 0.5). This gives exactly 2.5 meat value and 1.5 fish value in total.

What do you think? Am I overthinking it? Those fish food items kinda made a mess with some of this wikia's entries :p

Anyway, hope to hear from u soon cos I'm really curious and perhaps you can provide me with some insight

    • Seems like some of new recipes just focused on usage of those hybrid meat+fish value items... It did made a mess indeed, and I personally think some of new recipes are purely OP.

Pretty much Smart Crock Pot mod and cooking.lua is very helpful here. :P

I'm still hoping they will tweak new recipes and fish items a little, they really made a mess with fish food, some of them have very confusing prefab names. :|

  • They actually talked with me about it, but I have a question now. In RoG, are the seasonal names that we use, in the code as variable or string names?

  • First of all, i am telling this to you because you seem the most involved in editing and maintaining SW pages (to me anyways)

The thing is, In the SW pages it says that all ocean-related mobs' running speed is XYZ.

So i was wondering do you think I should change the 'running speed' of fishes etc to 'swimming speed'??

I know it sounds babyish but as stated above you seem to me the most involved in SW.

    Thanks,

    • From technical side of those things they have still 'walking' and 'running' speed in the code. Take a Dogfish for example, it has slower movement when not approched (walk speed) and it moves quicker when player is near (running speed).

We would have to ask admin to edit the mob infobox template to support it, the only problem is that those sea creatures have 2 swimming values, one which refers to walking and second to running speed, how'd we call them diferently?

Swimming, and, er... paddling?? You have a point.

    • Honestly, I think keeping it walking vs. running speed, although it doesn't make much sense, would be best. Otherwise, a new template would have to be made, the naming in inconsistent with code, and lots of pages may need to be changed.

    cheers

  • You're doing very well so far. :)

So, how would you like to be a custodian?

  • I just found out how to fix these broken looking info boxes for food items, that only show 1 of the pictures (raw/cooked).

It seems that these Infoboxes need a very specific File structure to work.

First: The Pictures have to not only match the name in the Infobox source, they also have to Match the PAGE name (so for the Mussels we have to rename the Page as well als the Image to Mussel for the Mussel image to work.

Second: There HAS to be a page for BOTH items (raw/cooked) - it is enough though if one of the pages contains all information and the other one is just a redirect page to the original one (check out Coconut and Cooked Coconut for an example).

I hope you can follow this as it is quite easy if you know it, but i never thought of all these until i tried to fix the coconut page :)

    cheers

    • You're right, it works! Thanks for the info!

Mussels needed a rename anyway since strings.lua call them just Mussel.

      Fixed Limpets page aswell!

  • Gears This is an automated message.

Welcome to Don't Starve game Wiki!

Hello , thanks for your edit to the Yaarctopus page. We hope you will continue contributing constructively!

Wait, I forgot to tell you...

    • Always make sure your additions are factual, not subjective, and don't contain instructional language or speculation. If in doubt, just ask!
    • Keep strategy and tip sections to the minimum and help us rewrite excessively long ones. We have a Guides page for comprehensive instructions instead.
    • Don't upload images randomly. If you want to improve the current version, please upload a new version of the image, instead of uploading another image with different name.
    • Don't use second person pronouns ("you", "your", etc.), instead use third person ("the player", singular "they", etc.) and help us write neutral articles without them.
    • Read the Rules and Manual of Style

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything. Thanks! TeoSS69 (talk) 21:49, December 5, 2015 (UTC)
