  • I'll just put this here so we don't have to discuss it using edit summaries.

    As far as I know and can remember, in vanilla DS, Winter does indeed last through day 36, though I haven't played singleplayer in a very long time. Furthermore, with the QoL update, maybe the devs have changed it to match DST? I mean, it's entirely possible winter was intended to be 15 days - it all makes sense using multiples of 5 - but the code had a bug causing it to last one extra day. But if that's the case, why didn't the same thing happen to summer?

    That's what I remember in my playthroughs. And I even remember summer beginning on day 73, matching the 16-day winter length (36 days * 2 = 72 days, 2 summers and 2 winters). Unfortunately, I can't verify this any time soon as I don't have enough time to spare for now (I haven't started either game in months). Perhaps we should just mark that part with {{Verify}}?

    • Unfortunately, I don't have Don't Starve solo, so I can't test how long winter last.

      I think the best solution is to use a different sentence for DS and DST, as on many other pages. With a {{Verify}} for DS Winter until we find out.

      Edit: the previous version of the page stated 16 days so I think it's correct for DS, probably {{Verify}} is not needed.

  • I don't often message people Wikia, so I do't know to send a single messge to you like a YouTube comment.

    Anyways, I'd like to thank your for adding speed to the boat kit page. It's going to help a lot of people; how did you manage to measure it in the first place? I'd like to try & help this wiki.

    • You're welcome.

      The best way to obtain information is to look directly into files. LUA files are easy to read, but if you are lost you can learn from [1].

      Then when you think you understand you can go in the game and check by using commands. There are the premade "c_" commands but once you master a bit LUA you can create your owns.

      For example the code for Boat movements is in scripts/components/boatphysics.lua. And you can check the boat speed in the game by using

      print(c_find("boat").components.boatphysics:GetVelocity())
