–Wurt
Marotters are neutral mobs exclusive to Don't Starve Together, introduced in the From Beyond updates. They spawn from a Marotter Den in a group of 2 and will wander around it in a radius of 30m. When killed, a Marotter will drop a Morsel, Meat, and has a 5% chance of dropping a Message in a Bottle.
Behavior[]
Marotters wander and swim around to collect any kind of edible items they spot within a radius of 20m, like Food and all resources edible to mobs, like Rocks, Twigs, or Gems. They attack small sea creatures like Ocean Fishes and Wobsters to get their meat.
If players have any meat food type item in their inventory, the Marotter will try to knock it out of their inventory (also if it is located in a Backpack) and steal it. This don't cause any damage. Marotters also will knock meat food items out of other containers, like Chests and Ice Boxes.
When a Marotter finds any meat food item, it will eat it unless it has not eaten anything within the last 1 minute. Further meat items will be stored in its inventory. After a Marotter has picked up 4 items, it will return to its den to store the items and sleep for a while. The Marotter Den can be searched by the players to gather the collected items or to get stolen items back. Marotters will drop all items in their inventory upon their death.
As Marotters are neutral mobs, they will only attack players if they get attacked. Other Marotters nearby will join the fight. Marotters do not become aggressive when searching their dens, but when moving them with an Oar.
Marotters are diurnal, leaving their dens in the morning and returning during night. However, during Winter Marotters will sleep all day.
When a Marotter is killed, the Marotter Den will respawn a new one in the first night after a period of 6 days.
Fighting[]
Below is the number of hits it takes with each weapon to kill a Marotter when playing with characters with a default damage modifier. The Weather Pain is not included due to the random nature of its projectile.
