To understand the plant, you must wear the plant.

Wilson

The Gardeneer Hat is an Item exclusive to Don't Starve Together and introduced in Return of Them update. It is crafted at the Science Machine with one Bucket-o-poop, three Seeds, and one Electrical Doodad.

A player wearing a Gardeneer Hat is able to research plants throughout their stages of development. The information is added to the Plant Registry. The player will also be able to access the Plant Registry in-game by right-clicking on the Gardeneer Hat.

The Gardeneer Hat allows the player to examine if a plant is stressed or not, but it doesn't indicate the source of the stress. It provides 60 points of protection from Overheating.

The Premier Gardeneer Hat is an Item exclusive to Don't Starve Together and introduced in Return of Them update. It is crafted at the Ancient Pseudoscience Station with one Gardeneer Hat, four Thulecite Fragments, and one Purple Gem.

The Premier Gardeneer Hat has the same uses as the Gardeneer Hat, but also allows the player to see the quantity of Nutrients in Farm Soil. It also provides information on one source of stress when examining a plant.

Wormwood does not need the Premier Gardeneer Hat to find out a source of stress when examining a plant.

Placeholder Trivia[]

  • The Gardeneer Hat and the Premier Gardeneer Hat were introduced in the Reap What You Sow update.
  • Maxwell's examination quote for the Premier Gardeneer Hat seems to imply that after discovering and becoming reliant on Nightmare Fuel, The Ancients began to subsist on it, possibly eating it instead of regular food.
    • This is supported by Maxwell's examination quote for the Ancient Kiln.
    • This may have been a factor leading to their downfall, and could be why The Ancients ended up "shedding their skin", with one or more of them becoming the Ancient Herald.
