Flint is an Item used to craft basic tools. It can be found on the ground or by mining smooth or gold veined Boulders or Stalagmites with the Pickaxe. Also Rock Lobsters drop Flint upon death. Flint is not flammable and easy to find on the surface, although eventually it can be used up. More can be found by venturing into a Cave.

Flint can be given to Rock Lobsters to befriend them. Like all Mineral items, they are food sources for Slurtles and Snurtles.

In the base game, Flint is only renewable through Rock Lobsters and Earthquakes in the Caves.

Flint is one of the first and most needed items in the game and should be sought after as soon as a new game starts. It is recommended to always have a decent number of flint at all times in the case the player needs to make basic Tools such as an Axe or a Pickaxe. Combat wise, the Spear can be built.

Reign of Giants[]

In the Reign of Giants DLC, Flint has a chance to drop when digging up the Burrow from a Moleworm. As long as the belonging Moleworm isn't killed, a new Burrow will be created, making Flint renewable on the surface.

Shipwrecked[]

In the Shipwrecked DLC, Flint is renewable via the Slot Machine, mining or hatching Dragoon Eggs and via mining Charcoal Boulders in Dry Season. It has also a chance to drop from a Steamer Trunk found in the Ship Graveyard biome.

Hamlet[]

In the Hamlet DLC it's a very common drop from Dung Balls which are renewable when killing the Dung Beetle before harvesting the Dung Ball. They have a chance to drop from Stone Slabs or Gnat Mounds, and can be obtained by mining Crumbling Carved Stones and Basalt Eruptions. They can be bought at the Pigg and Pigglet's General Store for 1 Oinc each.
