Fish is a Meat Food Item that typically comes from Ponds. It is also dropped by Merms. It restores 12.5 Hunger and stacks to 40 in the inventory. Fish can be dried on the Drying Rack for 1 day to produce Small Jerky, and are the main ingredient in Fishsticks and Fish Tacos using a Crock Pot. Fishing (like killing Gobblers) does not increase the player's Naughtiness level, meaning it is a safe food source for those fearing Krampus.
Unlike most other Meat Foods, Fish can be eaten raw without losing Sanity.

Cooked Fish is obtained by cooking Fish at a Campfire, Fire Pit or Star. Unlike most foods, it is no different in hunger and health restoration than its raw version, though it spoils slower than raw fish. Like all cooked foods, it cannot be dried on a Drying Rack.
Gathering
Fish can be obtained by using a Fishing Rod at a Pond or Lake, or dropped by Merms when killed (along with Frog Legs).
Downloadable Content
In the Hamlet DLC, Fish and Cooked Fish have an alternate appearance based on carp. Fish can be obtained from Kingfishers or by destroying a Tasteful Fish Mounting.
Don't Starve Together
In Don't Starve Together, Wurt regains Sanity over time[Need Clarification] when Fish is in her inventory.
