A Dragon Fruit is a rare Fruit that has a 5% chance to be grown from Farm plots by planting Seeds (or 4.75% Reign of Giants or 3.7% Shipwrecked). Dragon Fruits can also be produced by feeding a caged Bird a Dragon Fruit to receive 1-2 Dragon Fruit Seeds as well as a 50% chance to get a generic seed. Dragon Fruits are the main ingredient in making a Dragonpie.

Since Dragon Fruits are rare, and only restore as much hunger as Berries by themselves, albeit with more health gain, it is better to cook them into Dragonpie, as it will restore a lot more hunger and health than even a cooked Dragon Fruit. Since Dragonpie can easily be made with just Twigs as the filler, it is highly efficient.

Prepared Dragon Fruit

Still not a dragon. At least it's dead.

Wendy, when examining a Prepared Dragon Fruit.

Prepared Dragon Fruit is made by Cooking Dragon Fruit on a CampfireFire Pit or Star. It restores significantly more Health and slightly more Hunger than its raw counterpart. It can also be used as an ingredient in several Crock Pot recipes.

Prototype Tips

  • Along with a steady supply of Manure and Twigs, Dragon Fruits can entirely solve players' hunger problems. Due to their rarity in farming, having access to enough Dragon Fruits requires turning all Dragon Fruits to seeds using a Birdcage until enough can be cultivated. Players should first feed their harvest to the Bird until enough seeds can be procured to fill all the farm plots, allowing remaining to be consumed. Having 3 Farms with Dragon Fruits provide a 87.5% chance of allowing at least one to be consumed every harvest, while 7 farms provide 99.2% chance.
