Dark Petals are obtained by picking Evil Flowers that spawn around the Wooden Thing and its Things. Since the Evil Flowers drain the player's Sanity by 5 when picked, each Dark Petal can only be obtained by sacrificing some of the player's Sanity. Dark Petals can be eaten to drain an additional 5 Sanity points. Dark petals are a finite resource because the Evil Flowers that provide them do not respawn.
