Seems edible, though it may not be totally sane to consume it.

Green Caps are Vegetable Food Items that can be harvested on Green Mushrooms or Green Mushtrees. A raw Green Cap will take away a hefty 50 Sanity Meter when eaten, while also restoring 12.5 Hunger Meter. It has no effect on health. Green Caps can also be used as Crock Pot filler with a 0.5 vegetable value.

A Cooked Green Cap is a Vegetable Food Item made by Cooking a Green Cap on a fire (Campfire, Fire Pit, Dwarf Star, etc.). Unlike its raw counterpart, the Cooked Green Cap will instead restore 15 Sanity Meter and take away 1 Health Meter when eaten, not affecting hunger at all.

In Don't Starve Together, the Toadstool has a chance to drop Green Cap upon death. Green Caps are required to craft Dusky Lures and the Green Funcap. A Mushroom Planter can be used to grow Green Mushrooms by planting a Green Cap or Green Mushroom Spores in it.

Prototype Tips

  • Raw Green Caps can be eaten to decrease Sanity (to hunt Shadow Creatures or Beardlings, for example).
  • Having an equal positive effect to the Raw Blue Cap's negative, the Cooked Green Cap may be eaten in conjunction with a Raw Blue Cap for a resulting +19 Health Meter, +12.5 Hunger Meter, and 0 Sanity Meter.

Placeholder Trivia

  • The raw Green Cap's insanity is likely based on real life Psychedelic Mushrooms.
