Yeah, the Fanon wiki is a total mess that few people visit, so anything there won't get much attention.
That's a nice idea. As far as I know, fanart is only prohibited on articles and policy pages, but is probably okay anywhere else. I see a lot of great artwork in the Steam Community Hub for both games and feel like the artists should probably get more recognition (but there are also some that are... no... just... just no...).
It also adds more community participation that is not related to and has less restrictions than editing articles.
However, this also adds the duty of having to check the ratings for each artwork (if a rating system is even added) unless a script is written to automatically pick the highest-rated art for display each week/month/whatever (I'd go with weeks), which I think can be easy since we have Stl. However, there still must be a browsing system, which I don't think would be easy to make.
In addition, you will undoubtly find artwork of the "just no..." type. Those will most likely have to be dealt with manually to remove them from the art browser.
If we add that feature, it will have a lot of difficulties, but it definitely would be a nice addition in my opinion.
