There's quite a few different ways to play the game, and the character you play as has a lot to do with how you play. Which character is the most fun to play as, and which is your favorite based on their quotes and the ways they act?

My favorites are:
Willow - She can restore sanity easily, which I like because I struggle to manage my sanity.
Webber - He can befriend spiders, which I would otherwise struggle with because they are a common enemy in the game.
Wendy - I find her quotes intresting because of her word choice and because of the, as I say it, nihilistc view of life.
I am a new, struggling player because I can hardly deal with Tier 2 & 3 spider dens and perfer leading enemies to more enemies and letting them fight amongst each other, then after the battle, collecting the loot. Willow, Webber and Wendy are my top 3 favorites because of the reasons above and because of my ineffective playing style.
My personal favorite is wickerbottom, and I am going to write an essay on why. She can use her books to gain infinite pretty much any resource in the game. If you plant a lureplant in the middle of a field of grass/twigs/berries/reeds then use the applied horticulture book, the eyeplants will eat the resources. You then repeat as many times as you want and you can end up getting literally a thousand of any resource in under 2 minutes for a very low cost. Not to mention a bird farm. Use Birds of the World then Sleepytime Stories (both very cheap) and run around with a hambat killing all the birds. You can also summon krampus EXTREMELY quickly this way, and get tons of morsels and feathers for crafting the best weapon in the game (blowdart) Then just set up a hound farm and get tons of teeth by trapping a varg. This, combined with the reeds from a reed farm(you'll need a specific set piece, the reed trap since reeds can't be relocated.) for infinite blowdarts and the ability to kill any boss in under 10 seconds. And if you want even MORE overpoweredness, her tentacles book can be used to easily farm nightmare fuel from splumonkeys in the ruins and can help take out hounds without needing to use tooth traps. So yeah, that's why I like her. She's just blatantly overpowered. Of course, that's just in terms of making the game easy. For a character that's really fun, I love WX-78. his examine quotes are amazing (YOU HAVE AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF NOSE) and running around super fast with system overload is just a blast. And finally, a little tip for the person above me. To deal with tier 2/3 spider dens, listen closely. When you step on the webbing, 3 spiders should come out to kill you. Attacking them while on the webbing will make every spider in the den come out at once, including spider warriors. So what you want to do is lead the 3 spiders away from the nest THEN kill them. Then go get another 3 and repeat. If done right, no spider warriors should spawn.
Phew, I know that was a ton to read, but I love answering simple questions with complicated answers. :)
(Anon from first post) Thank you, Nye. I shall try your idea A.S.A.P.
My favorite character to play as is Wendy because of Abigail, and my favorite quotes are the ones from Maxwell.
Wes, he has OP abilities and his quotes are like shakespeare.
For real though in DST i go Woodie becuase nobody ever uses woodie and its nice to trade people some of my infinite logs for basicly whatever, and he's half decent in combat becuase he has more than 75 hp unlike the overated tree chopping hoser.
In RoG I go with Wickerbottom because of the mass production of everything, especially if theres a reed trap, if there isnt, i reccomend using the teleportato to try again in another world. I'm the person who like building megabases and wickers' mass production of food, twigs, grass, and more is really helpful.
In SW I use WX-78 or Woodlegs,WX because in SW gears are much more reneqwable than in RoG, also he is ammune to poison, even his only downside can be good, if you are unprepared and it turns night, just run into a wave and gain a litle wetness, the sparks that fly off of you give light so Charlie wont attack. Woodlegs is great for long term worlds because his Lucky Hat makes many things renewable such as Thulecite, Marble, Gunpowder, Message In a Bottle, and Gems. Lets not forget the Sea Legs' infinite cannon! The Sea Legs is great for collecting food and killing neuteral mobs without aggro like Whales and even Tiger Shark.
Maxwell is by far my favorite character. His Codex Umbra is one of the most useful books in the game, its perfect for mass-production and combat. I use him in DS, RoG and SW, simply for the Umbra and his quotes.
In DST, it is much easier to go insane, and farm Nightmare Fuel.
