The Anenemy is a naturally-spawning object exclusive to Don't Starve Together, introduced in Return of Them. It is found on the Rocky Beach and Lunar Archipelago biomes of the Lunar Island.

If a player or mob walks over an Anenemy, it will trigger and deal 60 damage to anything on top of it and close itself for around 1 minute. The Anenemy has unlimited durability, but unlike the Tooth Trap the player cannot reset it.

Closed Anenemies can be dug up with a Shovel, giving an Anenemy Trap, which can be picked up and replanted elsewhere, spawning a closed Anenemy at the chosen spot.

Anenemies cannot die or get destroyed. However, they can be stolen by Krampus when they are not planted. Anenemies are not renewable.

Prototype Tips[]

  • The Anenemy can not be set on fire so it is a great way to kill Fire Hounds.
  • Anenemies are excellent at mass producing Spider drops. Placing multiple Anenemies around a Spider Den will kill multiple spiders. Provided the player is capable of extracting the drops from the Anenemies, one can amass silk with little work.
    • The farm's effectiveness is increased by reducing the are on which Spiders wander by placing the den on a coast or by surrounding it with End Tables and using some food as bait that will lead the spiders in the anenemies' way.
    • The best way of collecting the loot for most characters is using a Lazy Forager and walking near the Anenemies. Players should consider the range of Lazy Forager when setting up Anenemies if they choose this method of extraction.
    • Maxwell's Shadow Servant allows for easy access for the loot as the shadow's item picking range is roughly the size of a grown-up Spider Den's range, provided the Spider Den is placed on a coast.
    • Charged WX-78 with a Walking Cane will be able to activate all the Anenemies without risking any damage by running over them.
  • Anenemies are a good way of producing other loot from mobs like McTusk, Bunnymen, Spluonkeys, Hounds (Using Vargs or Varglets) Pigs, Rabbits and others, but are less effective and require setting up proper Walls and using food as bait, due to their higher hp and lower spawn rates.

Placeholder Trivia[]

  • The Anenemy was introduced in the Turn of Tides update.
  • "Anenemy" is a pun on sea "anemone" and "an enemy".
  • A dug out Anenemy left on the ground appears to be breathing.
