The Ancient Gateway is a structure exclusive to Don't Starve Together, introduced in A New Reign. It's located in the middle of the Atrium Biome.
Currently, its only use is to have an Item to be placed in its socket, making the Atrium's Nightmare Cycle be locked at the peak state At the moment, almost any Item can be placed in the gateway, and it will instantly be converted into an Ancient Key and can be removed again as so, unlocking the Cycle from it's peak.
Trivia
- In the beta of the Heart of the Ruins update, when examining an ancient gateway, the character will say: "The ancient writing says: Come back next update." and "The lights reveals ancient text: Come Back Next Update"
- When first released, the Ancient Gateway had Black and Yellow tapes all over it, to signalize it was still a work in progress feature.
